As in many types of work, there is no "typical" day at Ryan's office. However, in order to give you an idea of what FH/Peru looks like from the inside here are some activities Ryan regularly encounters at work:
- Weekly staff devotions and group study of community development-related materials.
- Regular meetings with the 10 staff he directly supervises - the managers of our three different regions, Administrative Assistant/HR Supervisor, Finance Supervisor, Teams Coordinator, International Staff Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, PR Coordinator, and Disaster Mitigation Coordinator.
- Teleconference calls with different folks from FH offices in USA, Canada and UK.
- Sign many payment authorizations and review lots of expenses.
- Try to reduce the weight of my inbox.
- Lots of proposal writing and coordinating recently.
- Plan national meeting to get all 55 staff from our different regions to spend time together, train staff on Vision and Mission, and develop strategic objectives for our future.
- Discuss legal re-registration process with ex-director and local law office.
- Always something regarding personnel - hiring, adjusting contracts, etc.
- Friday mornings to reflect, pray and plan.
These are an awful lot of china plates to keep spinning on top of sticks. Thus far no major plates have crashed to the ground, and we give complete thanks to God for that. In all these tasks, Ryan interacts with an amazing group of staff who possess rich talents and deep commitment to see God's kingdom manifest itself here and now in shanty towns in Peru through their work.
We'd appreciate your prayers for Ryan to have clear thinking, solid priorities, and help to create an environment full of grace.
