On Jund 2nd we celebrated Gabe's 8th birthday. Here they are, having our traditional cinnamon rolls for breakfast before heading off to school.
We enjoyed a wonderful visit with Angela's parents, Bob and Selma. Here they are visiting the tourist market.
Boats along the river in the town of Aguaytia, 160 km outside of Pucallpa. This town used to be run by narcos during the terrorist years but is now a much sleepier jungle town with a circuit of gorgeous waterfalls nearby. 
Plantains anyone?

On July 10th Eliana celebrated her 4th birthday!
She invited a neighbor friend over for a tea party to celebrate.
July 28th is Peru's Independence day. Can you find Gabe celebrating with his classmates? Hint, he's wearing red.
Peru has three main regions: coastal, highland, and jungle. At school they spend most of July learning about these distinct regions. Eliana's class represented the jungle and performed a traditional dance. She was a little nervous once on stage, but did great.
From the coast of Peru there is a large community of Afro-Peruvians from where the cajón box drum comes. Toby learned to play it during April through July. Here he is performing in front of the whole school and families on 'Peru Day.'
