The first week of September FH celebrated it's 40th anniversary in small celebrations around the world. FH was founded by Dr. Larry Ward in 1971 and continues today in 26 countries throughout the world. We are very grateful for his vision and faithfulness to God's call on his life. Dr. Ward would say that, "The poor die one at a time, and we are called to help them one at a time." This relational focus is still at the core of our work as we seek to end physical and spiritual hungers worldwide.
In our 11 years with FH we have given countless explanations that we do not focus on food delivery programs, but rather holistic community development. Dr. Ward chose the name "Food for the Hungry" from Psalm 146, which gives a beautiful picture of what freedom looks like, and provides a much broader and closer definition to what we do.

Here are a few pictures of our 40th anniversary celebration in our central office in Lima. We had a nice time of sharing, praying, playing and finally, what Peruvians do best, eating great food.
