A Visit from Grandma

We all had a great visit with Grandma (Angela's mother, Selma) and were not ready for her to go back to Seattle on June 10th. The timing for her visit was a blessing from the Lord. Ryan had the busiest two weeks of work since arriving in January, with the all staff conference one week and writing the budget the next. Not only did we love having Grandma's extra love and attention, but her extra hands were needed as well.

Her presence also allowed us to celebrate Gabe's 7th birthday at school. The school has a handout outlining how to throw a party at school including what food to bring all during a 10 minute slot in the day. My mom helped me prepare for the fiesta and on the day of the party Ryan took some time off as well. We needed all hands to help carry 30 sandwiches, 30 brownies, a big cake, and 24 goody bags to school in a taxi with Eliana. The party was a lot of fun and Gabe really enjoyed all the attention.

Just before she left Ryan took a much needed day off and Grandma treated us to a sightseeing bus tour. Ryan and I enjoyed getting to see more of this enormous city and the kids liked being on a double-decker bus and seeing lots and lots of bones (in the catacombs beneath a cathedral).
