Mom and dad are most excited about Toby starting school. He is in the same bilingual school as Gabe and attends five days a week. He is doing well: eager to go in the morning, all smiles at pick-up, no tears and excited to do 'homework.' Although we don't hear much from him about his day, the biggest news he has shared with us so far is that "all the kids have a little bag with that hair stuff in it and the teachers put it on their hair every day."
The most exciting news for the kids is Happy. She is our hamster. They are thrilled to have finally convinced us to get some sort of animal that they can hold. Up until now the only pets we have allowed have been snails they collect from the plaza across the street.
As I write, Ryan is at an all FH/Peru staff conference/training which started yesterday. The first half of the week is spent training all staff on FH's vision and mission and the last couple of days Ryan will spend with FH/Peru's leadership team in strategic planning. Please pray that God will guide those who are facilitating the trainings (including Ryan), give clarity and understanding to the staff, and strengthen and encourage the leadership team.
Before you start feeling sorry for the kids and I to be without Ryan for a whole week, it won't be too bad. We have one of their favorite people arriving tonight from Seattle...Grandma! My mom will be staying for two weeks and we're excited to spend time with her and show her around our new neighborhood.
God is good and continues to care for our needs. Ryan has been incredibly busy preparing for the conference this week, and at times he mentioned how suprised he was that things are coming together as he was feeling so scattered. It is during those times when we so clearly can't do it on our own that so we reach out to Him to help us and He always does. Now, if I could remember to reach out to Him like that ALL the time.

Sounds very exciting! The kids are clearly settling in. Toby looks a lot like Gabe did at his age.
Cedar really enjoyed the picture of Happy. She squealed and said, "Oh hi Happy. You're cute!"
