Peruvian boys, girls and teenagers growing happy and healthy, in harmony with God, and in safe environments
The title above is FH/Peru’s new statement expressing our calling as an FH country. Each word and concept was thought about and discussed at length over a three day period of strategic dreaming, discerning, and planning process a few weeks ago during and interactive and often intense session with 19 different FH staff people. From this calling we developed seven strategic objectives we need to undertake in order to achieve our goal and already began to implement them. While the 17 words included in the statement may not look like much, it was really a victory to invest the time into discussing deep and challenging concepts and beliefs about our call and role in Peruvian society in a participatory manner with a good representation of our ministry.
This is not the first vision casting experience in our nearly 30 years as FH Peru. We have always followed FH’s global vision and mission:
God called and we responded until physical and spiritual hungers ended worldwide, and
To walk with churches, leaders and families in overcoming all forms of human poverty by living in a healthy relationship with God and his creation.
However, we have continually struggled to take this lofty and heaven-like vision and turn it into something implementable in our daily actions. I am happy to report that over the past year FH has become even more intentional about doing so and we responded by creating a regional strategic plan for Latin America a few months ago that takes the vision closer to the ground, and now our country strategic plan will bring it down even closer. The remaining task is to evaluate all our projects, systems and procedures to make sure they all align with this larger vision. It is an exciting time with lots of work ahead. I will be sure to keep you posted on the changes that this process will bring and begin to describe more the reasons why we feel God is calling us to respond to this call. Thanks for your support, we are definitely on a good path.
